LONDON--(Korea Newswire)--BAE Systems Australia has extended its Procurement Services contract with Xchanging (LSE: XCH), a global business processor. The contract was originally signed in 2006 and has now been extended for three years, until the end of 2013. Xchanging will manage over 180 million AUD of indirect spend over three years on behalf of BAE Systems Australia.

As part of the contract extension, BAE Systems and Xchanging have agreed on a new model that enhances the levels of innovation and strategic change delivered. From an initial core objective focused on cost savings, Xchanging will continue to deliver a holistic business solution that transforms the indirect goods and services supply chain for enhanced value across BAE System's procurement spend in Australia. Additionally, there will be an increased focus on delivering against local needs, whilst still driving efficient procurement solutions across the company.

The spend categories managed by Xchanging as part of this contract include travel, facilities management, learning and development and marketing, for all of BAE Systems' operations across Australia. Xchanging will continue to deliver these services through a team co-located with BAE Systems Australia at their headquarters in Adelaide.

Commenting on the contract, David Gillard, Director - Commercial & Procurement, BAE Systems Australia said, “Our vision is to be Australia's strategic industry capability and sustainment provider across the defence and security domains. In this regard we are working closely with our Customer to support the Strategic Reform Program. With Xchanging managing our indirect procurement, this enables us to focus more on our customers and our core activities, and still achieve cost savings”.

Kerry Purcell, Executive Director - Asia Pacific, Xchanging added, “Over the years, we have developed a close working relationship with BAE Systems Australia. We are delighted with this contract extension and look forward to delivering enhanced value through our renewed arrangement”.
