Caretek Develops Intubation-Use Endoscope ‘AV-Scope’

WONJU--(Korea Newswire)--Electronic ductile endoscope-specializing company Caretek Co., Ltd. (CEO Seong-Yong Lee, www.Caretek.co.kr) revealed that it “developed ‘AV-Scope’ which is a medical endoscope of laryngoscope equipped with a camera that can be viewed with bare eyes and a monitor.”

The existing emergency laryngoscope has been used as essential medical equipment for emergency patients or anesthesia in the operating room, but only those specially trained for intubation tube injection could use it. Due to this, it was not easy to inject the intubation tube in emergency rescue situations such as in the emergency room, so that the medical staff or the emergency services had to bear many difficulties.

AV-Scope (Attach Video Scope for Intubation) adds a detachable subminiature camera and a monitor to the existing laryngoscope and completed development so that the medical staff may easily make use of even in emergency situations.

This product consists of a monitor, a camera holder, and the camera part, where the camera part can be separated on its own for cleaning and disinfection, is completely waterproof, and is lightweight for ease of use.

Also, while the existing imported products were all-in-one type with a high price of 15~30 million KRW, and is also difficult to repair when troubled and additional costs occur with expendables, this product is cheap-priced, and is a separable/detachable type where only the failed part can be replaced when malfunctioning, which is an advantage.

Especially for this product, the development was completed through technological guidance of the professor team of Emergency Medicine Department of Wonju Yonsei University, where the medical staff of Yonsei University and the technology of Caretek came together to improve the patient safety and medical staff satisfaction level.

AV-Scope completed patent registration as ‘the laryngoscope with endoscope guide when attaching/detaching (No. 10-1070416),’ and is planning to complete CE ((Conformity to European) certification and domestic certification by this coming January.

AV-scope is expected to be of much use for education in surgery college, hospitals/clinics with operation rooms, and emergency rescue teams, and will be launched at the ‘Moscow Medical Equipment Exposition’ to be held in Russia this coming December and the ‘28th International Medical Device & Hospital Equipment Exhibition (KIMES 2012)’ to be held in COEX next February.
