SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Citibank Korea Inc., (CKI, http://www.citibank.co.kr) and JA Korea (www.jakorea.org), an international non-profit financial education organization, held a mentor-mentee relationship establishment ceremony for “Citi-JA Hero Program” at the auditorium on the 20th fl. of the CKI Headquarters building on Dec. 16.
Citi-JA Hero Program is designed to select those who are diligent and have passion for learning among the teenagers from multi-cultural households and provide them with the programs to enhance school grades (learning and career coaching) and improve character (cultural experiences, sociality development, and mentoring). CKI donated USD 126,000 which it had been granted from the Citi Foundation to the program. In each segment of this project, volunteer undergraduates and graduate students who have completed set courses, and CKI executive and employee mentors are matched with the teenagers from multi-cultural families to help them overcome current obstacles and motivate them to realize their dreams.
The twinning ceremony was attended by 80 teenagers from multi-cultural families, 80 mentors from CKI including Park, Jin-hei, Head of Corporate Banking Group, Yuh, Moon-hwan, president of JA Korea and other related persons. With the ceremony being a starting point, Lee, Hung-Joo, Head of CKI Retail & Commercial Banking Group, Kim Myung-ok, Head of Operation Div., Lee, Jong-bum, Head of PSG/FIG Div., Yoo, Myung-soon, Head of GTS Div. and Park, Gene-soon, Vice President of CGK will participate in the mentoring and character education for the selected teenagers both online and offline till Jun. next year.
Park, Jin-hei expressed his expectation in the day’s opening remarks saying, “We’ve started this program in partnership with JA Korea to help teenagers from multi-cultural households recognize their own potentials and values and not to give up their dreams frustrated with the reality. Through the program, the bank executives will share their time and knowledge with the teenagers and lend them emotional and intellectual support.” Kim, Tae-joon, Chairman of JA Korea also said “Nurturing the juniors from multi-cultural households, who are going to become Korea’s future driving force, is developing the country’s future. I hope the participating adolescents will be able to lead a fulfilling and successful life after the Hero Program.”
The course to enhance school grades, one of the Citi-JA programs, has been run since the twinning ceremony held on Nov. 5 and 6 where 30 undergraduate and graduate school students and teenagers first established mentor-mentee relationship.
