
Dongyoun Sohn Appointed GM’s Global Vehicle Line Executive for Small Cars

SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea announced today that Dongyoun Sohn, current Vice President of GM Korea Vehicle Engineering, has been appointed Global Vehicle Line Executive for Small Cars, effective March 1.
Sohn has done an outstanding job in the past two years leading and transforming GM Korea Engineering. His prior role as Vehicle Chief Engineer for Mini will be an asset as he takes global responsibility for the Small Car Program.
Sohn began his career at the former Daewoo Motor Company in 1989. He has had oversight of several important areas such as product integration and powertrain development. He was appointed Vice president of the former GM Daewoo Vehicle Engineering in April 2010.
Sohn received a bachelor’s degree in precise mechanics from Hanyang University, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Seoul National University, a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Boston University.
Steve Clarke, Vice President of GM International Operations (GMIO) Vehicle Engineering, has been appointed Vice President of GM Korea Vehicle Engineering. He will relocate to Korea and assume the responsibilities of current Vice President of GM Korea Vehicle Engineering Dongyoun Sohn. Clarke will continue to serve in his current regional role.
Ulrich Schmalohr, current Global Vehicle Line Executive for Small Cars, will repatriate to GM Europe from his assignment in Korea as Global Vehicle Line Executive for Alliance Programs. In his new role, he will be responsible for vehicle alliance projects globally.
