SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--GM Korea Company announced today that it sold 13,530 vehicles in the domestic market and exported 63,293 vehicles in March. Total sales for the month were 76,823 units, which was an increase of 22 percent from the last month, when GM Korea sold domestically and shipped 62,959 vehicles.

GM Korea’s domestic sales in March registered a dramatic jump of 31.7 percent to 10,277 vehicles from the previous month. This was also an increase of 10.3 percent from 12,265 vehicles sold in March 2011.

“Our outstanding sales performance in March was driven by the growing demand for our high-quality products and the popularity of our customer-oriented aftersales and marketing programs such as Chevy Care and the Love More 1.3.5.7 Festival that began in March,” said Ankush Arora, GM Korea Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing.

The Love More 1.3.5.7 Festival in celebration of the first anniversary of Chevrolet contributed to the positive demand for all Chevrolet products last month, especially the Spark mini-car (6,422 vehicles), Cruze compact sedan (1,955 vehicles) and Orlando ALV (1,596 vehicles).

“We expect domestic demand to maintain its rapid pace of growth through competitive models from Spark mini-car to Alpheon luxury sedan,” said Arora. “We are launching the ‘Alpheon Care’ customer service campaign today to contribute to the growing popularity of the Alpheon world-class luxury sedan.”

He added, “GM Korea will also continue the Love More 1.3.5.7 Festival in April as part of our aggressive marketing and customer-oriented campaign to maintain our growth throughout 2012.”

Exports of complete vehicles by GM Korea were up 14.3 percent in March from 55,363 vehicles exported in March 2011. GM Korea also exported 133,152 complete knockdown (CKD) kits of parts and components to be assembled into vehicles.

For the first quarter of 2012, GM Korea recorded total sales of 206,167 vehicles. This was an increase of 30.2 percent compared to the same period last year. Domestic vehicle sales increased 28.2 percent to 31,842 units from 24,842 units in the same period last year. GM Korea’s exports in the first quarter climbed 30.6 percent to 174,325 units from 133,506 units in the first quarter last year.
