SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced that it has won four 2012 Technical Image Press Association Awards in the ‘Best General Compact Camera’, ‘Best Mobile Imaging Device’, ‘Best Photo Monitor’ and ‘Best Photo TV Display’ categories.

Samsung’s MV800 camera won the ‘Best General Compact Camera Award’, cementing its place as the best all-round compact camera in the market today.

Samsung‘s trendsetting MultiView MV800 anticipates the future of innovative compact cameras. Boasting a unique 180 degree, 3.0” touch-screen Flip-out Display the MV800 allows perfect capture and easy viewing of self-portraits and extreme high or low angle shots. It also introduces the Smart Touch 3.0 interface with special effects “filters”, smart albuming and smart movie for greater creativity. With 16.1 Megapixels the MV800 ensures crystal clear imagery whilst the Schneider Kreuznach 26-130mm 5x zoom lens and fast electronics also contributed to the decision of the TIPA jury to award this camera as ’Best General Compact Camera 2012'.

“We are extremely proud of winning this prestigious award,” said Mr. Myoung Sup Han, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Imaging Business of Samsung Electronics Co. “This only further showcases our continuous commitment to producing innovative and cutting-edge digital imaging products that are smarter, simpler and fun to use.”

The Samsung GALAXY Nexus won the Best Mobile Imaging Device Award for its “innovative HD Super AMOLED display” that enables users to view photos and videos in high resolution with a wide viewing angle. Samsung was also awarded the Best Photo Monitor Award for the Samsung SyncMaster S24/27A850, with its “new Samsung LED PLS (Plane to Line Switching) technology” and “more accurate colour and a much wider viewing angle than competing monitors.” Samsung was recognized by a fourth honor, as well, with the Samsung OLED TV, which won the Best Photo TV Display Award.

“[It] features the very latest in picture quality, displaying vivid and true-to-life image quality in both 2D and 3D, making it the ideal TV for photo and video enthusiasts alike,” the TIPA judges said.

The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards are recognized as the most coveted photo and imaging awards worldwide. Every year, TIPA editors vote for the best photo and imaging products introduced to the market during the previous 12 months. The awards ceremony will take place at Photokina in Cologne, Germany in September 2012.
