Barry O’Leary, Chief Executive of IDA Ireland
SEOUL--(Korea Newswire)--Barry O’Leary, the chief executive of Industrial Development Authority Ireland (IDA Ireland), will be visiting Korea for 3 days from November 27th. During his visit, Mr. O’Leary plans to meet with executives of Korean companies and introduce the strategic benefits of investing and doing business in Ireland.
IDA Ireland is responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland. Since its foundation in 1949, over 1,000 global companies have advanced into Ireland with its support. Of particular note, IDA specialists in 19 foreign offices are in direct contact with local companies to encourage investment.
Ireland recently announced its plan to retire the relief loans earlier than scheduled as it has stabilized the foundation for its economic rebound. In addition to the low 12.5% corporate tax rate, Ireland provides various support systems and incentives for foreign investors. Ireland has been the choice of major companies, such as Google and Microsoft, for a strategic base in targeting the European market thanks to its highly specialized workforce and ideal location with easy access to the EMEA region. In particular, there are strategic clusters of leading global companies in life sciences, IT and R&D that have established Ireland’s position as the ‘Silicon Valley of Europe.’
IDA Ireland had long noted the importance of the Korean market, which led to the founding of its Korea office in January this year to effectively support Korean companies’ investment and advance into Ireland. (Tel: +82-721-7217)
